The artistic project “El Cortesano” was born in Basel (Switzerland) in 1998, as a result of the fortunate encounter between two young performers passionately dedicated to Renaissance music.
Although with a common training in the field of the Schola Cantorum Basiliensis, José Hernández and Ariel Abramovich have a diverse musical preparation and life history, which allow them to propose visions that are both divergent and complementary. Moved, perhaps, by the enthusiasm of their youth, the members of this duo deny their stagnant and universalist visions about her.
To compensate for the orphanhood of those who reject conventionalisms, it becomes necessary to construct their own responses, based on research and the search for new meanings arising from close contact with a careful selection of the poetic-musical production of that incredibly rich historical period.
